Laser cutting has become one of the fastest and most precise types of production cutting methods, and fiber laser cutting is the latest advancement in this technology. These types of cutters use a high-power laser beam that is focused through a fiber optic cable made of flexible glass fibers that guide the laser beam to the cutting head.
The laser beam is generated initially by a diode and amplified in a fiber optic cable before being focused through a lens and directed towards the workpiece to be cut. As the laser beam melts the material, a stream of gas blows away any molten or vaporized material, leaving a clean surface.
